Awesome savory meatballs for any social gathering!

Sweet & Sour Meatballs

Ingredients
  • White bread
  • Hot milk
  • Onion soup mix
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Ground beef

Instructions
  1. Sweet & Sour Sauce: Mix grape jelly with chili sauce.
  2. Meatballs: Mix bread with milk. Add salt and pepper to ground beef. Mix bread and beef. Roll into little balls. Bake at 350 on a cookie sheet. (Pressed on time, unseasoned ready made meatbals from Sams or Costco!
  3. Place meatballs in sauce to coat completely. Serve on platter with toothpicks.

Chili Con Queso

Favorite appetizer for football games!
Chili Con Queso (Chili with Cheese)

Ingredients
  • ¼ cup margarine
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 can tomatoes (whole)
  • 1 can green chilis (small)
  • salt to taste
  • 1 pound Monterrey Jack cheese

Instructions
  1. Fry onion in margarine.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes & chili.
  3. Add cheese in chunks until cheese melts in frying pan.
  4. If too thick, add some milk.
  5. Serve with tortilla chips.

 

 

Artichoke Dip

This has been a delicious appetizer plate that you have to push away so you don’t fill up before dinner. Use crackers or cut up small pieces of bread. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  • 1 can artichoke hearts (14 oz)
  • 1 cup mayonaise (Hellman’s preferred)
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound mozzarella cheese
  • garlic powder to taste
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice

Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients in a baking dish
  2. Bake until cheese melts at 350 degrees

 

Double Layer Pumpkin Pie

Don’t count on leftovers of this version of pumpkin pie.  We serve it every Thanksgiving, and over the years, the recipe has been requested and shared multiple times!!

Ingredients
  • 4 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1 Cup + 1 Tbsp milk, divided
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 carton (8 oz.) Cool Whip Whipped Topping (thawed, divided)
  • 1 graham cracker crust (9 in. crust)
  • 1 can (15 oz) solid pack pumpkin
  • 2 packages (3.4 oz each) JELL-O, vanilla flavor instant pudding
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ginger
  • ¼ tsp ground cloves

Instructions
  1. In large bowl, beat cream cheese, 1 Tbsp milk and sugar with wire whisk until smooth.
  2. Gently stir in ½ of whipped topping. Spread onto bottom of crust.
  3. Pour remaining milk into large bowl. Add pumpkin, pudding mixes and spices. Beat with wire whisk 1 minute or until well mixed. (Mixture will be thick.)
  4. Spread over cream cheese layer.
  5. Refrigerate 4 hours or until set. (Garnish with remaining whipped topping.)
  6. Enjoy!

 

Monkey Tails Coffee Cake

Probably the unhealthiest, but most fun coffee cake ever. It’s easy so easy to put together we have it every morning after a holiday at Grandma’s house.

Ingredients
  • 4 cans buttermilk biscuits, 10 count
  • ¾ C. butter
  • 1 C. brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions
  1. Cut biscuits into quarters (use scissors) and cover with sugar and cinnamon mixture.
  2. Layer pieces in a greased tube or Bundt pan (add raisins into each layer if desired)
  3. After layered, pour melted butter over top.
  4. Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes.

 

Parmesan Baked Chicken


Somehow this always becomes another one of our Christmas Day meals. Alongside some broccoli and crescent rolls, it makes for a nice, easy to prepare family meal.

Ingredients
  • 1 C. dry bread crumbs
  • ½ C. grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • ¼ tsp pepper
  • 3 lbs of chicken pieces or boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 tablespoons melted margarine

Instructions
  1. Combine dry ingredients
  2. Dip chicken in butter, then roll into dry mixture
  3. Put in greased baking dish
  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour for chicken pieces and 30 minutes for chicken breast (depending on size)

 

Grandma’s Christmas Italian Beef


It’s always Italian Beef at our Christmas Party. I’m not sure how that tradition stuck – but it works for us. Grandma spends days slow roasting pounds upon pounds of Italian Beef. It’s a meal I always look forward to.

Grandma’s Christmas Italian Beef

Ingredients
  • 3 pounds chuck roast (remove fat & bones, cut in large chunks)
  • 1 ½ C. of water
  • 1 Package Lipton onion soup mix
  • 4 tsp of Italian seasoning
  • 3 rolls of French Bread (cut into 8 pieces)

Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients in crock pot (slow cooker)
  2. Cook on low for 12 hours
  3. Towards end of cooking time take a fork and separate pieces
  4. Serve on French bread and scoop remaining juices onto each serving

 

Grandma’s Famous Slush

My aunts don’t drink – unless it’s slush or frozen margaritas. They have a love for sweet, frozen beverages. It doesn’t matter if it’s the hottest summer day or the coldest new years eve. Slush is for every season and every holiday party.

  • 8 C. Water
  • 1 C. Sugar
  • 2 C. Strong Tea
  • 2 (6 oz) cans frozen orange juice
  • 2 (6 oz) cans frozen limeade
  • 1 (12oz) can frozen lemonade
  • 3 C. vodka or gin

Instructions
  1. Mix all ingredients thoroughly
  2. Put in freezer for 5 hours or until mixture is slushy
  3. DRINK!

 

Beef Stroganoff


mmmmmm…..BEEF STROGANOFF!  Such an amazing recipe and so simple as well.  This is great to serve to the kids, on a cold autumn day.  Top it off with a nice glass of hot chocolate for dessert and you will have some insight as to how I was raised!

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ lbs. Sirloin Ground Beef
  • ½ C. Chopped Onion
  • 2 Cans Cream of Mushroom
  • 1 Can Beef Broth
  • 1 ½ Tbsp. Ketchup
  • ½ C. Sour Cream
  • 1 lb. wide Egg Noodles

Instructions
  1. In skillet sauté onion with ground beef until brown, stirring occasionally.
  2. Blend in remaining ingredients minus the sour cream.
  3. Heat until it simmers for a few minutes to ensure beef is cooked thoroughly.
  4. Just before serving blend in sour cream.
  5. Serve over cooked noodles.
